Celeros announces Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) platforms and availability of RAID 6 for its Storage Area Network (SAN) and Networked Attached Storage (NAS) Appliances.Redwood City, Calif., December 18, 2006 — Celeros Corporation, a leading supplier of high performance and affordable Networked Storage appliances today announced the addition of SAS Storage Platforms for its popular EzSAN and EzNAS Product Series. SAS platforms overcome many of the limitations of traditional SCSI platforms and provide enhanced performance, reliability and scalability. One of the most attractive features of SAS is that it allows the same RAID controller to support both high performance 15k RPM SAS drives and lower cost, higher capacity Serial ATA (SATA) drives. All Celeros SAS platforms ship with a built in external SAS interface to allow storage expansion to 128 drives and up to 7 additional chassis. “Celeros SAS platforms provide higher performance, improved scalability and availability, making it a natural choice for demanding applications such as medical imaging, multimedia on-demand, and video stream editing”, said Abtin Assadi, CEO and founder of Celeros. Additionally, Celeros announced availability of RAID 6 (dual parity) on all of its storage platforms. Today’s Mission critical applications such as internet servers and data bases require enhanced data protection methodologies such as that offered by RAID 6. The dual parity narrows the window of vulnerability and reduces the probability of data loss due to multiple drive failures by orders of magnitude. Celeros hardware based RAID engines eliminate the performance penalty due to overhead of second parity calculations. SAS Platforms, like their complements the SATA II platforms, are designed for EzSAN and EzNAS Series. All SAS platforms are available now in the following form factors:
