eXtremeSAN:

eXtremeSAN is another revolutionary step Celeros has taken to bring the highest performance iSCSI based IP SAN appliances at affordable prices to its customers.

At its core, eXtremeSAN uses a dedicated highly integrated, high performance iSCSI/TCP-IP offload ASIC (iStor iSNP8008™) to deliver support for 10GbE to and from the network. Quantified, this amounts to 1100MB/s of network throughput! This ASIC also enables the full featured integrated storage virtualization software to deliver Media Protection, Caching, Redundancy, and End to End data protection. The embedded RAID processors in the ASIC enable advanced RAID functions such as true online expansion, online RAID level migration, and micro-rebuilds.

Features:

Scaleable Performance
With its10Gb capable core, Celeros eXtremeSAN has the processing power to saturate all its interfaces at full duplex while addressing all the parity calculations demanded by RAID 5. As high speed servers increase their demand from the storage infrastructure, eXtremeSAN will be able to linearly scale in performance to address the most demanding iSCSI applications.

Online Capacity Expansion
Embedded RAID processors allow dynamic expansion of any given volume to incorporate additional storage without any impact to ongoing operation. RAID sets can be also be migrated dynamically to other RAID levels or to incorporate different drives.

Multiple RAIDs Per Drive
Drives can incorporate multiple and divergent RAID technologies and each drive can participate in different RAID sets leading to much more efficient space utilization. This also means that volumes can be created from drives of dissimilar capacity and technology.

Link Aggregation for Performance and Availability
Each GbE link is capable of 220MB of (Read & Write) throughput. Any combination of up to 8 of the links can be aggregated (IEEE 802.3ad ) to provide failover and to build bigger pipes to different subnets or more demanding servers.

VLAN Zoning
eXtremeSAN supports VLAN Tagging (IEEE 802.1Q) to segregate storage traffic into VLAN zones for higher Access security.

eXtremeSAN Device Manager
Using a graphical user interface, eXtremeSAN Device Manager can comprehensively and remotely monitor and configure SAN storage subsystems using industry standard SMI-S (Storage Management Initiative). The user interface is intuitive and simple to operate and drives, links, and volumes graphically show status and relationships.
